New play­ground pro­ject aims high

Af­ter sev­eral years of hop­ing and dream­ing for a new play­ground for Sun­ny­side El­e­men­tary, a com­mit­tee which was formed last year has come up with a plan for a ‘new age’, nat­u­ral play­ground that would make the most of the school’s spa­cious grounds.

The “Play­ground Pro­ject” would con­vert much of the school­yard into land­scaped play ar­eas that mimic the nat­u­ral en­vi­ron­ment us­ing trees, bushes, rocks and sand, etc. but will also keep the small soc­cer field, base­ball di­a­mond and veg­etable gar­den. Sun­ny­side prin­ci­pal Steve Weary, at the pro­ject’s launch on Mon­day morn­ing, com­mented: “Sun­ny­side is al­ways proud to be a bit dif­fer­ent, so this is no or­di­nary
