Stansteadis one step closer to gaining a fourth flower from the Fleurons du Quebec organization when they visit, this summer, to re-evaluate the town’s three flower rating. A coordinator and a group of novice gardeners have been hired by the town to spruce up the town’s public gardens and parks as well as dig a whole lot of new gardens on town property. Last week, the new workers began their new work experience by putting in shrubs and perennials in front of the Stanstead Culture and Recreation headquarters at 10 Phelps Street. The town’s Beautification Committee is behind the initiative to gain a four flower rating from Fleurons du Quebec; tourists are often attracted to highly-rated towns or base their excursions on these flower ratings.
