Get out your garden gloves!
The judges from the Fleurons du Quebec organization will be visiting the town all day next Tuesday, July 16th, from morning to night. They will be slowly travelling down every road, looking in almost every nook and cranny, counting up points for well-tended flower gardens and manicured lawns. What will their findings show? Will we go up another flower, adding a fourth to the town’s three flower rating, or stay the same? That, dear readers, is up to you!
“They will be looking at homes, businesses, parks, everything, so please make sure your lawn is mowed and your flower beds are weeded!” said Marise Trepanier of the town’s Beautification Committee. The town’s new workers have been really busy, putting in flower gardens almost everywhere you look. “They planted the big pots at the border today,” said Ms. Trepanier. One day, when the town gardeners had some free time, they worked in the garden of two seniors who live in Beebe who are having health issues that were preventing them from maintaining their beautiful gardens. They received a bonus, that day, of a homemade banana bread for their efforts! Soon they will be planting a garden at the corner of Woodside and Principale, in the Beebe sector, since gardens at all of the town’s entrances are needed for that fourth flower.
Heavy rains didn’t stop the gardeners, (l. to r.) Megan Sisco, Carole Hudson, Margarita Betancour and Randall Reynolds, last Thursday, from putting in this garden at the Stanstead IGA.
