The voice hits Granby

Stanstead Journal - - FRONT PAGE - Staff, Granby

Dany Flanders was at the Saint-Ambroise in Granby, last Thursday, and we decided to give him a visit. After all, the venue is your standard restaurant bar, outside of the familiar territory where the local boy was a star before he was anointed as one by ‘La Voix’, the TVA adaptation of the international series. And while here, most know what a real Dany Flanders show looks like, Francophones in Granby have only seen him a couple of times, backed by an orchestra and a professional sound crew. And we might add, a lighting crew; the Saint-Ambroise is your typical club, rather dark.

The gig started with Georgia and for the next few songs people were still talking, then the fun started, and fun they had. When we left, dozens were dancing, tables being removed to make room for more dancers.

In a way, it reminded us of the first time we saw Mike Goudreau at the Jazz Festival. People were passing by at first and then there was a crowd blocking St. Catherine Street. No better proof that you have talent.
