The Orford Festival is off to a great start!
UntilAugust 18, several artists will step on the GillesLefebvre stage at the Orford Arts Centre (OAC). Maestro JeanFrançois Rivest carefully prepared the Festival’s program, which offers to music lovers more than 40 concerts and activities that revolve around this year’s theme, The Tchaikovsky Experience.
Young prodigies like pianists Kiaoyu Liu and Marika Bournaki will have a place of honour during the Festival, together with the Orford Academy Orchestra’s guest soloists Jan Lisieski, Stéphane Tétrault and Timothy Chooi. “It is with great pleasure that we offer a diversified program that showcases both young prodigies and great musicians of our time. We make it our personal duty to provide students of the Orford Academy with prime spots in our program so that they can fully experience the stage,” explains Artistic Director Jean-François Rivest. Free activities
In addition to the 21 professional concerts presented at the Gilles-Lefebve concert hall, the 2013 Orford Festival’s program suggests many free activities, such as Les beaux concerts de la relève, which will take place Thursdays and Sundays during the Festival and constitutes an excellent occasion to discover new musical talents. As part of the Orford sur la route concert series, a few churches, like those of North Hatley and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, will welcome the Academy’s musicians. Moreover, people are cordially invited at the OAC to view some Opera masterpieces and to browse through our visual arts exhibitions. Finally, Tuesday night master classes are an excellent occasion to witness the Academy’s renowned professors in action.
