Hall of Fame for Pat Burns

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier

Muchto the dismay of many of the hockey players that he coached, the late Pat Burns has, once again, been passed over for the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame. The coach of four NHL teams: the Montreal Canadiens, the Maple Leafs, the Bruins and the Devils, Mr. Burns received the Jack Adams Trophy with three of those teams and won one Stanley Cup. In twelve seasons of coaching, his team missed the playoffs only once.

Those players or coaches who did make this year’s cut to the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame, announced last week, were Chris Chelios, Scott Niedermayer, Brendan Shanahan, Geraldine Heaney and Fred Shero. The now has a 20 foot long pneumatic boat. A ‘Capelli’, it was built in Italy, with the help of a local enterprise, specifically to fit the needs of the police. It made its first appearance at the Fete du Lac des Nations last night and will certainly be used during the Sherbrooke Canada Games.
