People needed for Stanstead revitalisation project
At the end of August, a group of McGill students will begin a study to undertake a revitalisation plan for the downtown sector of Stanstead. The study will look at developing the Tomifobia River, walking and bicycling access, and developing strategies to improve the appearance and use of buildings for commercial purposes and the service industry. Consultations made with the population in 2012 and 2013 will serve as the base for the development report. A revitalisation committee will be formed to receive, exchange and guide the McGill students. This committee will be made up of the mayor, the General Director, a municipal councillor, a citizen’s representative from the Rock Island sector and a representative for the local businesses. The business development councillor will also sit on the committee.
Citizens from the Rock Island sector interested to be part of the committee must attend a meeting on Tuesday, August 13th, 6:30 pm, at the Community Hall at 10 Phelps. There they will learn about the project, ask questions and elect their representative.
Business people interested will have a similar meeting on Wednesday, August 14th, 6:30 pm, in the same location.
