2nd Annual Moonlight Ball on the Horizon
NorthCountry Hospital’s signature event, the Moonlight Ball, to benefit patient care initiatives, is set to happen for the second time, Friday, September 20th in the Foeger Ball Room and on the Haynes Terrace at Jay Peak Resort.
The patient care initiatives fund was established to help connect patients in need to the services that provide them with the best continuum of care. The fund has provided gas cards to those needing to make frequent trips for ongoing treatment, has helped cover co-pays and even pharmaceuticals not covered by insurance, special dietary meal bars and protein supplements, compression stockings, glucometers, leasing of wheelchairs and walkers and other medical needs.
“This fund has helped more than 50 patients in the last quarter alone,” comment-
ed Director of Development, Wendy Franklin. “The thank you notes I receive from these families really describes how this fund is making a difference in the lives of our patients. Sometimes we have to make tough decisions on whether we are able to help a patient. But it really comes full circle, when you realize a particular patient may have not gone for that important diagnostic test or begun treatment because they didn’t have the resources to do so.”
Invitations to the 2nd Annual Ball for the same cause have been mailed and it should prove to be an equally elegant night. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to call the development office for an invitation- there are still seats available but we do expect to fill the room. The ball is a black tie optional event, beginning at 7:00 pm. The $135 per person cost includes a cocktail and appetizer reception, an elegant dinner with wine served, silent auction and dancing to the return of an 8-piece very talented band, Stardust, from Boston. Be sure to dust off your dancing shoes because this is a band you don’t want to miss!
Local corporate sponsors to date include Columbia Forest Products, Community National Bank, Jay Peak Resort, Kinney Drugs, Newport Rotary Club, Northpoint Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Passumpsic Savings Bank and Spates Construction, with a number of additional local advertisers. With an in-kind donation of materials by Poulin Lumber, students at the North Country Career Center built some incredible decorations for the ballroom and we are so grateful for all of the support from our local community!
