Border Hockey dance tickets selling fast
Tickets are selling like hotcakes for this Saturday night’s dance at the Pat Burns Arena, a fundraiser for the Border Minor Hockey Association, thanks to crooners Dany Flanders and his mother, Lise, who will be performing for the occasion. Lise will warm up the dinner crowd in the arena’s restaurant before the dance, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, while her famous son will begin his show at 8:00 pm.
When asked if she had ever opened for her son before, Mrs. Flanders said: “I never thought about it that way but you’re right, it is the first time!”
“I remember playing minor hockey when growing up, so when I heard from the boys at the arena that the Border Minor Hockey needed money, I agreed to do this benefit,” explained Dany. “I’ll be playing some classic rock, some country, old standards, a little of everything and something for everybody. I heard that they have sold a lot of tickets and that they’re running out of room, so it should be a good night!”
After appearing on La Voix in the spring, Mr. Flanders, who has his home base in Florida, has been touring all over Quebec. “It’s been hectic. I’ve put about 25,000 kilometres on my car driving all over the province and, in the last nine months, I’ve only been home in Florida for about three weeks. I’ll be going back there in a few weeks to settle down a little and work out my winter schedule,” he said.
Dany Flanders will be taking part in another benefit concert next Wednesday, September 18th, at the Vieux Clocher, in Magog, for the victims of the Lac Megantic disaster. He will perform there with Rick Hughes, Hugo Lapointe and Andreanne Mallette.
Dany Flanders will rock the Pat Burns Arena, this Saturday night, to raise money for Border Minor Hockey.
