CSSSM working with flood victims
At the time of the Magog flood on September 2nd, the CSSS Memphremagog created a team of psychosocial workers which was sent to the scene. Three community organizers were later added to this team. Many of the families affected are impoverished, without insurance and in need of support since they could not return to their homes following the flooding.
About twenty families have been relocated to local hotels and are receiving emergency aid from the Canadian Red Cross. The CSSSM team is also present to help the families become stable again, to deal with the loss of personal belongings, the stress and anxiety, and in the organization of daily activities.
A call has also gone out to the personnel of the CSSSM for volunteers to help support the affected families.
