Big boost for Border Hockey
there’s nothing like a mother and son musical team to pack the house. About 125 people attended the dinner, held at the Pat Burns Arena last Saturday night, while Lise Flanders entertained them from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and well over 300 people
attended the Dance that followed and featured her famous son, Dany. The whole event was a fundraiser for the Border Minor Hockey Association.
“We were able to raise about $5000 and the whole event was very well received,” said Dave Dubois, the president of the Association. “Everyone seemed to have a great time and Lise and Dany were both excellent. Including our golf tournament, we’ve raised about $10,000 in the last month.”
“I’d like to thank Brad Crawford and the other volunteers who helped, Lise Houle who runs the restaurant, Stanstead College for giving us the use of the arena, and the many prize sponsors. The money will be used to buy ice time,” added the president.
The hockey games will be starting up soon but there is still plenty of time to register to play. “We got a lot of new kids this year, gaining a few at the younger ages which is good,” said Mr. Dubois. Children aged from 4 to 16 can join this local hockey league. For more information call Dave Dubois at 819 876-7606.
