Stanstead Journal - - NEWS -

But these trains won’t go south for at least a couple of days as the track repairs on the section that washed away a couple of weeks ago are still not completed. Transport Canada has many issues with this section of the MMA system called the Sherbrooke division as it stated in a notice sent to MMA before the flooding: “During the inspection, noncompliances were observed such as: various rail and joint defects; marginal tie conditions; vegetation issues; and an inadequate amount of ballast on track shoulders. As a result of these findings, a Notice was issued directing MMA to provide feedback on how they intend to resolve the above conditions on the Sherbrooke Subdivision. A response, requested by August 9, 2013, has been provided by MMA and is currently being reviewed by Transport Canada.”
