Followingan investigation that lasted several months, Coaticook SQ officers and officers with the (DERE) conducted a search on a property on Rang 5 in St. Malo last week. Around 250 cannabis plants were found on the land beside the residence, as well as two ATVs which were seized. In the residence, police found 5 kilograms of bulk marijuana, two improperly stored firearms, and contraband tobacco. The resident of the home, a 40 year-old man, was arrested along with a 40 year-old man from Sherbrooke who was also there. In all, 16 officers took part in the operation.
On the territory of the Regie de police Memphremagog (RPM), on Saturday morning, the police conducted a search on Pierre-Richard Street, in Magog. They found two cannabis growing operations, one in the house and the other in the garage. In all, 1,615 plants were seized. A 49 year-old suspect was arrested. The information that led to this arrest came from an SQ officer who, when delivering a document to the suspect, smelt the odor of marijuana coming from the house.
Finally, the RPM is also advising people that for the last few days, a man has been offering free maintenance services on thermopumps and heating systems under the guise of being part of a class action suit. He then makes fake repairs and charges large amounts for his services in the name of a Montreal company. Anyone who believes they have had contact with this man should call the RPM at 819 8433334.
