Culture Days at Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke
TheMusée des beauxarts de Sherbrooke will celebrate the Journées de la Culture Sunday 29 September, opening its doors to visitors free of charge, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will discover with pleasure the works of two major Quebec artists: painters Peter Krausz and Marc-Aurèle Fortin, as well as works from the museum’s collection, Spaces and Landscapes. There will be guided tours of the exhibitions, in French, at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
In 1969, Peter Krausz, then in his early twenties, secretly left his native Rumania. For more than forty years, the flight towards the unknown has continued to nourish the reflections of the artist. The landscapes which inspire him are those marked by history, conflict, and war. He transforms and elevates them, turning them into spaces halfway between the real and the imaginary. Marc-Aurele Fortin painted rural and marine scenes in the early 1900’s.
