Turkey Sup­per in Hat­ley

TheHat­ley United Church is host­ing a Turkey Sup­per this Satur­day evening, Septem­ber 28th, and ev­ery­one is wel­come. There will be two seat­ings – one at 5:00 pm and the other at 6:15 pm. Any­one who would like to at­tend must make reser­va­tions by call­ing Gary Drew at 819 8422921. and lux­u­ri­ant. The artist par­tic­u­larly en­joys the clear lu­mi­nos­ity of dawn, the warm colours of the af­ter­noon, and the vi­o­let tones of the sun­set which he paints us­ing the an­cient al secco tech­nique. The ex­hi­bi­tion in­cludes 15 large-for­mat works pro­duced over the past ten years.

tra­di­tion­nel con­sists of thirty ru­ral and marine scenes pro­duced in oils or gouache by Fortin be­tween 1910 and the 1950s. The works are grouped both by sub­ject and by pic­to­rial tech­nique, with the aim of demon­strat­ing how the prac­tice of paint­ing can be as­so­ci­ated with tra­di­tion by the­matic choices, but also, para­dox­i­cally, by the ex­pres­sion of a cer­tain moder­nity in th­ese choices.
