Hydro-Sherbrooke to build new line

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Sherbrooke

Hydro- Sherbrooke will be putting up an electric line between the station in Orford, the industrial park and the Chemin Godin sector. This new 25 kV line will cross the projected extension of Portland Boulevard but is not connected to that project.

This electric line aims to respond to the growing demand for electricity in the last few years in the Industriel Boulevard sector. The new above-ground structure will serve around 550 clients and make the electric grid more secure, especially during the winter. New enterprises that locate to the extended industrial park will also get power from this line.

The work, valued at $700,000, begins this week and will continue until mid-December. The new line will leave the Orford station and follow Industriel Blvd until Wilfred-Beaucage Street. Then it will pass behind the Serres St. Elie and pass over the future extension of Portland Boulevard. After going down a future street in the industrial park, the electric line will cross Industriel Blvd. at Saint-Jacques Street, not far from the autoroute 10/55.
