Friday August 13th at the Ayer’s Cliff Fair Grounds
TheStanstead County Women’s Institute met in the Women’s Institute Tea Room (Aug.13/13) at the Ayer’s Cliff Fair Grounds.
Present were Dyanne Saanum, Debbie Smith, Phyllis Dustin, Irene Humphrey, Jackie Tilton, Jean Cass, Doreen Moffat, Connie Smith and one guest Taryn OttoSmith.
Dyanne Saanum opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and all repeating the collect. Members were sorry to hear of the passing of Marie Georgette Gavin on July 5/13. Regrets were sent in by Janet McLellen, Barbara Hanson, Barbara Hewitt, Gertrude Ketchum, Mildred Miller, and Velma Eryou.
Roll call was answered by 8 members. 3 from Ayer’s Cliff, and 5 from Hatley/ Stanstead North.
Debbie Smith read the minutes from the April meeting. Debbie moved the adoption of her minutes and Irene Humprey 2nd. -carried- A thank-you was read from Taryn Otto-Smith for her donation that the county gave her for her skip-a-thon.
An invitation was read from Pontiac County Women’s Institute about their 100th Anniversary on Oct,19/13. It will be our 100th Anniversary next year. Some plans were discussed for an event- more to follow next meeting.
Treas. report. Phyllis Dustin gave a detailed report of our accounts. Phyllis moved her report and Jean Cass 2nd. -carried- Phyllis had received a check for Barbara Hewitt for gas money to convention. Check was made out to Stanstead County from Quebec Women’s Institute. Phyllis gave Barbara a check from our County to cover this.
A discussion took place about someone going to convention as a delegate. A person must be delegated by the county in order for their trip expenses to be paid by county. A motion was made by Debbie Smith and 2nd by Jackie Tilton to give H/SN $50.00 to help cover some of the cost to convention -carried- Phyllis Dustin gave a report of the groups trip to convention.
