Employers happy with local Job Fair
Ten local companies attended last week’s Job Fair at the Pat Burns Arena, in Stanstead, providing information about their companies and taking resumés from the roughly 100 people who came to the event looking for jobs. “About 40% of the people were from Stanstead and the surrounding area, while about 60% came from other areas like Sherbrooke. A contingent of new Canadians, who were contacted through the Centre d’Aide aux neo-Canadiens, even attended. “There were about thirty jobs to offer at the Job Fair and the employers were happy with the turnout and the competency levels of those who attended,” commented Joanne Lajeunesse McKay, the town’s business development agent.
