Em­ploy­ers happy with lo­cal Job Fair

Ten lo­cal com­pa­nies at­tended last week’s Job Fair at the Pat Burns Arena, in Stanstead, pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion about their com­pa­nies and tak­ing re­sumés from the roughly 100 peo­ple who came to the event look­ing for jobs. “About 40% of the peo­ple were from Stanstead and the sur­round­ing area, while about 60% came from other ar­eas like Sher­brooke. A con­tin­gent of new Cana­di­ans, who were con­tacted through the Cen­tre d’Aide aux neo-Cana­di­ens, even at­tended. “There were about thirty jobs to of­fer at the Job Fair and the em­ploy­ers were happy with the turnout and the com­pe­tency lev­els of those who at­tended,” com­mented Joanne Laje­unesse McKay, the town’s busi­ness de­vel­op­ment agent.
