Four go missing on Mt. Orford
Fourpeople were reported as missing over the weekend in Mont Orford Park. The first two were quickly found at the beginning of the evening, on Saturday, however, the other two, a mother and her ten year-old daughter, were found three hours after the beginning of the search on Sunday after- noon, at around 5:30 pm. The mother was able to exchange information with the searchers using her cellphone, leading to them being found on the shore of a lake.
The number of arrests for drunk driving seems to be on the rise in the region. Last weekend, six people were arrested by the Regie de police Memphremagog (RPM). On October 4th, a 21 year-old man from France drove into a garden at a business on Principale West, in Magog. On October 5th, a 32 year-old Magog man and a 36 yearold man from Longueuil were both stopped on Sherbrooke Street. On the 6th, a Magog man of 64 years was stopped on a motorized scooter; a 20 year-old, under the zero tolerance rule, tested positive for alcohol although he was under the 80 mg. limit used with older drivers; and a 53 year-old driver of a car went off the Milletta road.
When a young man who was attempting to transform marijuana into oil in an apartment on Sherbrooke Street tried to extinguish a propane leak with a chemical extinguisher, the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the apartment. The young man put all of his incriminating equipment into a bag which he hung from the bottom of his balcony, but was arrested and questioned by police nonetheless and will face charges of drug possession.
