Flower pot moved to sneak in

Last Sun­day, RCMP agents in­ter­cepted a 31 year-old woman ac­com­pa­nied by six chil­dren af­ter il­le­gally cross­ing the Amer­i­can bor­der to en­ter Canada. Si­mona Ci­u­ciu, orig­i­nally of Ro­ma­nia, had to move a flower pot that had been in­stalled in the cen­tre of Church Street, in Stanstead, to get into the coun­try. Ac­cord­ing to lawyer Myr­iam Lachance, the Crown Prose­cu­tor, the woman also en­tered into the United States il­le­gally.

The six chil­dren were given over to the youth pro­tec­tion ser­vices, while it is es­tab­lished where they came from and where they were go­ing. Also ac­cord­ing to the Crown Prose­cu­tor, the spouse of Si­mona Ci­u­ciu, Ser­afin Cirnaru, is presently be­ing de­tained in Bordeaux jail, in Mon­treal. The 39 year-old Ro­ma­nian was ar­rested on Septem­ber 16th, 2013. It is sus­pected that he is at the head of a large hu­man-traf­fick­ing net­work.

Si­mona Ci­u­ciu ap­peared be­fore Judge Conrad Chapde­laine. Maitre Lachance was op­posed to her be­ing re­leased un­til Im­mi­gra­tion Canada takes charge of the file.
