Aloan of one mil

lion dollars from

Investissement Quebec for J.M. Champeau, of St. Malo, was announced on Monday by Ministers Elaine Zakaib and Rejean Hebert. The loan is for an expansion project worth $7.5 million to increase production.

J.M. Champeau transforms hard wood into different pieces destined for specialized industries such as component manufacturers, recreational equipment manufacturers and musical instrument manufacturers.

“It is our role to support dynamic enterprises who want to focus on their successes to continue their growth,” said Minister Zakaib. The project, which includes the buying of equipment, will allow the enterprise to exploit its capacity for drying and transforming lumbered green wood by a third.

“This investment allows us to continue to be competitive in the global marketplace,” commented local apple producer Harvey Stevens, who also works as a Sales Representative for the company. More than half of the company’s production, 55 %, is exported to the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.
