Alexander Galt’s student body held its traditional Fall Spirit Day last week and the support propelled the Pipers to three big victories. Along the way the Pipers claimed three Principal/ Headmaster Cups against Bishop’s College School.
The Senior football team was looking to grab its second win over the BCS Bears within a week, but the cross town rivals had other plans as they jumped out to a 28-27 halftime lead. However, Galt made a few adjustments at halftime, which helped them win the high scoring affair 49-40 when the final whistle sounded. Cameron Burns caught a nice pass from quarterback Chad Buck for a touchdown while the Piper running game provided the rest of the damage. Running backs, Matt Sullivan Weare, Jared Chute, Sean Giddings all ran for majors. However, Buck solidified the Piper victory by scoring the last three touchdowns by running the ball. The victory allowed the Fighting Pipers to capture the Principal/Headmasters Cup.
The Senior Soccer teams also hosted the BCS Bears for their traditional Principal/Headmasters Cup for the 20th time in its history on Spirit Day. It was a beautiful fall afternoon to play soccer and the 800 hundred plus students and staff supported their teams on to victory.
The senior boys won against 3-0 BCS thanks to an outstanding threegoal performance from striker Brandon Desruisseaux. The game was tied at the half, but the veteran striker scored all three goals within ten minutes midway through the second half and the Piper defense foiled every Bear scoring opportunity.
The senior girls also won their game against BCS 5-0 with five different players hitting the score sheet, Cortney Burnham, Eliza Stevens and Lindsay Moore all scored in the first half while Myriam Elkas and Lynsey Pinkston added insurance markers in the second
