A Baroque Encounter with Arion at Centennial Theatre

On Sunday, October 27th at 3pm, Centennial Theatre launches its Classical Music Series with the Arion Orchestre Baroque under the direction of co-founder and flutist Claire Guimond. The concert entitled Mélange Baroque : Bach et Telemann will feature guest flutist Vincent Lauzer (Révélation Radio-Canada – Musique classique 2013) in a program of music by Baroque contemporaries Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and Georg Phillip Telemann (1681-1767). The concert begins with music by Teleman; Ouverture (Suite) in a minor for recorder, strings and basso continuo, TWV 55:a and the Concerto in e minor for flute and recorder, TWV 52:e1. For the second half, Arion and guest Lauzer will perform the music of Bach, namely the Suite in b minor, BWV 1067 for flute, strings and basso continuo and will conclude the afternoon with the Concerto Brandbourgeois no. 25 in D major for flute, violin, harpsichord, strings and basso continuo BWV 1050.
