Reality interpreted at Beaulne

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Coaticook

Theof pleased Beaulne Museum Coaticook is to present the exhibition « Réalités contemplatives » by the artist Guy-Anne Massicotte from the 10th of November to the 12th of January 2014. The grand opening will be held on Sunday the 10th of November at 2pm. The public and the press are cordially invited.

Joined to the « Nouveau Classicisme » movement, Guy-Anne’s Massicotte’s work is essentially subtle interpretations of reality. The subjects are staged in a contemporary style and the execution is based on ancient techniques of oil painting, allowing the creation to be exceptionally refined and nuanced. Mostly self-taught, GuyAnne Massicotte studied with rigor, with the help of specialized works, a painter’s trade with its fine details. Practice and attentive observation to the work of Great Masters such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Dali, Bouguereau as well as many contemporary painters, enabled her to put together a technique and approach to painting which personal and unique. According to the artist, each composition is looking for dynamic balance and harmony. One of her great aspirations as a classic realist painter is: “to imbue my creations with a modern atmo- sphere with simplicity and subtlety”. Her recent work sometimes includes gold or silver leafs while exploring the boundaries between hyper-realism and abstraction.

Born in Nicolet, Mrs Massicotte has been painting in Sherbrooke for many years. Her oil paintings are contemporary and realis- tic and can be found in many private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe. Member of the International Guild of Realism, and the Group of Twelve she has received many awards and mentions at local, national and international levels such as well-known Art Renewal Center Salon in New Jersey in 2010, 2012 and 2013. The magazines: Parcours, Magazin’Art, Canadian Brushstroke as well as the International Artist Magazines presented her work and some of her paintings are part of the noteworthy collection of Loto-Quebec. Her work is also shown in galleries in Montreal and in Charlevoix since 2002 and exhibited at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton from May to August 2012. The Mayor of Ayer’s Cliff, gave a very interesting talk comparing the economic situation of the Townships with that of the rest of the province. The situation could be improved with training and more support of businesses. Here he is thanked by Tom Richer.
