Spar­tan hockey be­gins this weekend

Th­e­se­nior hockey teams of Stanstead Col­lege will be hold­ing home open­ers, this weekend, at the Pat Burns Arena. The se­nior boys team, which plays in the MPHL, will have their first game on Fri­day night, at 7:00 pm, against Academie St. Louis, from Que­bec City, and will play that team again, on Satur­day, at 4:00 pm. “Many of our play­ers grad­u­ated last year, so we have a lot of new play­ers and some im­por­tant vet­er­ans,” said coach James Rioux.

The se­nior girls hockey team, which plays in the NAPHA league, will have their first game on Satur­day evening, against the North Amer­i­can Hockey Academy, from Stowe, Vermont, be­gin­ning at 7:00 pm.

“We’re re­ally ex­cited for the sea­son to be­gin and we hope that peo­ple come out to watch the games,” added Mr. Rioux. Ad­mis­sion is free.

Stanstead Col­lege Spar­tans cel­e­brat­ing af­ter a vic­tory last year.
