Eastern Townships School Board’s Director General Takes on New Challenges with the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport
is with mixed emotions that Mr. Michael Murray, chairman of the Council of Commissioners of the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB), announces that Chantal C. Beaulieu, currently Director General of the ETSB, has been appointed as the
Ms. Beaulieu brought with her to the ETSB a strong background in law having worked as a litigator specializing in labour and education law for 12 years with Ogilvy Renault and LeCorre et associés before joining the English Montreal School Board in 1999 as Senior Legal Counsel.
In 2000, she joined the ETSB as Secretary General and was promoted to Assistant Director General (ADG) in 2002 and consequently Director General in 2010. Ms. Beaulieu spearheaded the dropout prevention dossier, taking the ETSB’s dropout rate from a high of 39.4% for the 2004-2005 school year to 18.8% for 2010-2011. Through her leadership and vision, the ETSB has not only decreased its dropout rate but also improved success rates across the school board and negotiated a three-board agreement, to name but a few. “Although we are sorry to see Ms. Beaulieu leave the ETSB, we know that she is an excellent choice to represent the English community at the ministry level. We have a solid team in place and have just completed our strategic plan for 2013-2018, which will give us continuity and stability,” said Mr. Michael Murray, Chairman of the ETSB.
On behalf of the Council of Commissioners, students and staff of the Eastern Townships School Board, we wish Ms. Beaulieu all the best in her new position and look forward to continuing to work and collaborate with her at the ministry.
Michael Murray, Chairman of the Eastern Townships School Board
