Austin W. I. Mu­si­cal Meet­ing

The monthly meet­ing of the Austin W.I. took place on Wed­nes­day Oc­to­ber 9th at the Austin home of Claudette Giesinger – be­gin­ning at 1:30 P.M. The meet­ing was opened in the usual man­ner with Pres. Debi Bonn thank­ing Claudette for again shar­ing her beau­ti­ful home for the spe­cial mu­si­cal pro­gram and af­ter­noon tea we were about to en­joy. MOTTO: If ev­ery­one cared enough An ev­ery­one shared enough, then ev­ery­one would have had enough. R. C. Read to­gether the W.I. Prayer of Thanks­giv­ing – Page 4 – Which was an­swered by 10 mem­bers. There were also 5 in­vited guests who were warmly wel­comed – namely: Tina Linde; Thelma Ruck; Ann Mitchell; Mar­i­lyn Lau­rin & Anne Wol­ham. At 2:30 the meet­ing was pleas­ingly in­ter­rupted with Claudette pre­sent­ing as fol­lows: Fan­nie Gaudet - Pi­anist Fan­nie is from Rock For­est & is now mother of a lit­tle boy. She holds a Bach­e­lor of Arts de­gree from Bish­ops & Masters de­gree in pi­ano per­for­mances from Laval Univ. She teaches classes in Mu­si­cal Skills & Mu­si­cal His­tory. Fan­nie has worked as co-mu­si­cal di­rec­tor for Bishop’s pro­duc­tions as listed: “Half a Six­pence” A Bea­tles Mid­sum­mer Night’s Dream “The Balled of Romeo and Juliet” “The Tem­pest” “The Twelfth of Never” “Cin­derella” “Beach Blan­ket Zom­bies” “St. Matthews Pas­sion” MEN­DELSSOHN’S “Eli­jah” HEY­DEN’S “Cre­ation” ORFF’S “Car­mana Bu­rana” As a Cham­ber player Fan­nie has ac­com­pa­nied singers, Chellist and vi­o­lin­ists. Be­sides work­ing with Bishop Singers she also di­rects the mu­sic pro­grams at Cham­plain Re­gional Col­lege. Isabelle Long­pré – Vi­o­lin­ist Isabelle was born in Sher­brooke, Que & be­gan her stud­ies at age 6. She plays with many Or­ches­tras – Sher­brooke, Sague­nay, Drum­mondville & Longueuil. She also per­forms as a Cham­ber Mu­si­cian in the area & played with Rock Voi­sine in Monaco for the Princess. She played Kali Mor­ri­son, Jake & the Lepri­con & many Pop/Rock groups. She is a very ac­com­plished mu­si­cian who likes to play many dif­fer­ent styles of mu­sic. Lately both Fan­nie & Isabelle have been in­volved in many projects to­gether with Bish­ops Univer­sity singers. They are cer­tainly two busy ladies! For more than an hour, all were treated to a most en­joy­able ren­di­tion of songs as listed: CLERAMBAULT: Largo MASSENET: Med­i­ta­tion Thais KREISLER: Si­cili­enne; Chan­son LOUIS XIII et Parane; schon Ros­marin; LIEBESHED EL­GAR: Sa­lut d’Amour LISZT: Fi­nale was pi­anist Fan­nie with one of our own favourites of hers Beau­ti­ful Jeux d’eau à la Villa d’Este. Spe­cial re­quest from Claudette: Fan­nie played PAR­LER-MOI d’Amour as all joined in singing along with her. On be­half of all present Claudette ex­pressed sin­cere ap­pre­ci­a­tion to both these gifted artists & in­vited them to stay & share tea of dainty sand­wiches & squares which was served im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing the recital. There was also a beau­ti­ful birth­day cake to help cel­e­brate Win­nie Kirby’s 93rd Birth­day! The next meet­ing of this branch will be held at the new home of Gerry Meesen.
