Bright tower light bothers Ogden residents

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier Ogden

Several residents of Ogden, most of them living on high ground on the Marlington Road, are not happy about an extremely bright light on a Bell cellphone tower which was installed about six months ago. According to mayor Michael Sudlow, the bright light shines intermittently during the day while a red light shines during the night. “The light only seems visible over a certain elevation. Before the tower went up there were areas with no cell phone service, but we had no idea at the time that it would have a bright light on it. It is very bright and very disturbing,” said the mayor. Before passing a resolution regarding the light on the tower, council will investigate the issue further.

The culvert problem on the Cedarville Road is getting more complicated. “The water in that culvert is actually part of the lake so we’ll have to put up barriers and pump out the middle,” said Mr. Sudlow. The council also learnt that when working in water, only special machinery with vegetable-based oil in the hydraulic system can be used, to avoid polluting the waterway. Council will meet again this Friday to work on the culvert problem.
