Police News – Pot growing increases
The Sureté du Quebec released its totals for this year’s Operation Cisaille, the program that aims to eradicate pot-growing in the province. Compared to last year’s totals, the number of suspects arrested decreased from 58 to 46 in 2013. The number of open files without suspects grew from 63 to 124; the number of plants found by the police increased from 19,635 to 23,757; the number of open files went from 162 to 161; while the average number of plants seized per file went from 121 to 148. These numbers are for the Estrie region only. Sergeant Frederick Pelletier, the intermediate director of the Coaticook SQ post, presents a cheque of $600 to Jacques Madore, the president of the Carrefour loisirs de la MRC Coaticook and the mayor of St. Malo. The amount
came from money raised at the annual golf tournament.
