Po­lice News – Pot grow­ing in­creases

The Sureté du Que­bec re­leased its to­tals for this year’s Op­er­a­tion Ci­saille, the pro­gram that aims to erad­i­cate pot-grow­ing in the prov­ince. Com­pared to last year’s to­tals, the num­ber of sus­pects ar­rested de­creased from 58 to 46 in 2013. The num­ber of open files without sus­pects grew from 63 to 124; the num­ber of plants found by the po­lice in­creased from 19,635 to 23,757; the num­ber of open files went from 162 to 161; while the av­er­age num­ber of plants seized per file went from 121 to 148. These num­bers are for the Estrie re­gion only. Sergeant Fred­er­ick Pel­letier, the in­ter­me­di­ate di­rec­tor of the Coat­i­cook SQ post, presents a cheque of $600 to Jac­ques Madore, the pres­i­dent of the Car­refour loisirs de la MRC Coat­i­cook and the mayor of St. Malo. The amount

came from money raised at the an­nual golf tour­na­ment.
