Arty auction will keep strays warm
A good crowd, over forty bidders, attended the annual Art Auction of the Frontier Animal Society (FAS), held last Sunday at the Haskell Free Library. Bidders were, once again, pleased with the quality of the artwork and the variety and quality of the ‘gently used’ items that were also donated for the bidding. “We had an excellent auction, with a rough count of about $2,330 raised,” said FAS volunteer, Dallas Dessaint. “There were a lot of new people at the auction and everyone had a great time. The money raised will begin to take us through the winter,” she added. Heating costs at the shelter, that about forty cats and thirty dogs call home, can be quite high.
Auctioneer Phil Desormeaux keeps the excitement high with his antics and humour, with help from Andrea Dezan and Brenda Dezan, in front of a full house in the Reading Room of the Haskell Free Library during the Frontier Animal Society Art Auction.
