A new President for the MCI
At its last monthly meeting, the Board of Directors of Memphremagog Conservation Inc. (MCI) elected a new Executive. Mrs. Claude Bernier has agreed to become President. Mrs. Bernier, a Magog resident, has been a member of MCI for 30 years and a member of the Board since 2005. She has long years of management experience and has been involved in the Magog community for close to 15 years. Mr. Tom Kovacs, resident of Drummond Point, Magog, was elected Vice President. Mr. Kovacs is a former Director at Parks Canada and a long-time member of MCI. Among various responsibilities, Mr. Kovacs will represent the MCI at the Quebec/ Vermont Steering Committee and will maintain the relationship with our Vermont friends.
Mrs. Gisèle Lacasse Benoit will continue to be a member of the Executive as Past President and will be responsible, among other things, for the Conservation file and for projects related to the Lake Memphremagog watershed.
The other members of the executive are Mr. Pat Trudel, from Potton Township, who has agreed to continue as Treasurer, Ms. Catherine Roy, a young biologist who knows Lake Memphremagog well, as Secretary, and Mrs. Johanne Lavoie, as MCI Director General for a sixth year.
The other Members of Board are : Mr. Robert Benoit (Patrol Director), Mrs. Anne Boswall, Mr. Jean-Claude Duff, Mrs. Mary Pat Goulding, Mr. Jean-Philippe Joyal, Mr. Peter Lepine, Mr. Erich Peter-Smith, Mrs. Madeleine Saint-Pierre et Mrs. Perry Thomas.
Claude Bernier was elected as the new president of MCI, replacing long-time president Gisele Lacasse-Benoit.
