As many of you are aware, the Quebec Lodge Foundation exceeded the $1.5 million fundraising target and met the conditions for donation of the Quebec Lodge property from the Anglican Diocese of Quebec. However, plans for the reopening of the children’s camp on the shores of Lake Massawippi in 2014 have been placed on hold for the moment. The purchaser of the portion of the Quebec Lodge land sold in 2010 has launched a lawsuit against the Diocese over the right to transfer ownership of the remaining property to the Foundation. We were all very surprised and disappointed by this latest delay and have regretfully suspended on-site work on the camp property until the matter is settled in the courts.
The support that we received from the community has been overwhelming, and many institutions, companies and individuals made generous monetary gifts and pledges to our campaign. We are confident that the Diocese will prevail in this case and that as early as possible in the coming year we will be able to proceed as planned. In the meantime, we are continuing to work on the Quebec Lodge project, and we anticipate that our five-year plan will not be significantly delayed. We extend heartfelt thanks to all of our many supporters. If you made a pledge to our project, we will be contacting you soon with additional information regarding your contribution for this year. Many thanks,
The Members of the Quebec Lodge Foundation
