Eye of Memphré peers at projects
Last week, the “Eye of Memphre” had the chance to look at sixteen interesting projects during the 2013 edition of l’Oeil de Memphre which was held in front of a panel of experts at the Estrimont Suites et Spa. The panel members analyzed the projects to see if they merited financing. In total, the projects represented almost $10 million of investment in the region.
The projects were quite varied. Among the sixteen files presented, half were projects to get new businesses off the ground while the other half were expansion projects. The different sectors represented were recreo-tourism, information technology, services and manufacturing.
“The same number of projects were presented as last year, however, we believe that this time the promoters were better prepared and equipped to present their files since they benefitted from the information sessions offered by the CLD and the many hours spent with consultants,” said Yves Lanthier, the director general of the CLD of the Memphremagog MRC.
Following the presentations, the promoters meet individually with organizations and institutions that have shown interest in their project. Also, Quebecor Media proceeds with a further analysis of files submitted by the CLD following a pre-qualification, in order to choose the winner of the Bourse Entrepreneurship Quebecor Media Estrie which is $10,000 of publicity.
