Special lunch for Caregivers
Townshippers’Association will be hosting a special luncheon this Friday, in Magog, for English-speaking natural caregivers. Called “Food for Thought”, the luncheon will be an opportunity for natural caregivers, people who help care for either a family member or a friend on a regular basis, to learn about local resources and ways of dealing with the extra stress associated with caring for a loved one. Animating the luncheon will be Steve and Judy Lawson, who is now working with Eric Akbar Manolson of the Townshippers Association on the APPUI project. They will speak to the diners about the benefits of having a hobby.
“The Appui project’s aim is to make people more sensitive to the challenges and needs of natural caregivers and to increase support for natural caregivers. This luncheon is open to caregivers, people who are connected to caregivers, people perhaps with older parents who are just starting to realize that they may soon be a caregiver, or people who work with natural caregivers. It’s quite common for caregivers to become isolated and the need for support for caregivers is growing and growing,” explained Mr. Manolson.
Served at the lunch will be lemon dill chicken and homemade pies for dessert. Door prizes will also be drawn. The event takes place on Friday, December 13th, from noon to about 2:00, at St. Paul’s United Church, in Magog, 211 des Pins. Small fees and reservations are no longer needed.
