Heavy vehicle restrictions begin

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

Drivers of heavy vehicles should take note that the period of weight restrictions began yesterday in zone 1, the southern area of Quebec which includes the Eastern Townships, and will continue until May 30th. The restrictions will come into place in zones 2 and 3 on April 7th and will continue until June 6th. As in past years, the dates of the beginning and end of this period are decided according to the climate in each zone. The dates cover not only the thaw period but also the period when the roads regain their supportive strength. The dates may change, depending on the weather conditions.

During this period, Controle routier Quebec intensifies its activities of weighing heavy trucks, as much at weigh stations as on the roads network.

The “Degel” signs installed on public roads all around Quebec during the spring thaw indicate that the weight restrictions are in force.
