On Monday, police in the Val St-Francois MRC received a call from a citizen who saw a man, in broad daylight, trying to steal an all-terrain vehicle on a property on the River Road in St-Francois-Xavier-de-Brompton. After he was startled by the witness, the suspect took off by foot towards Sherbrooke. Patrollers with the Sureté
du Quebec quickly alerted the Sherbrooke police who went to the area to continue the pursuit of the suspect on foot. They soon localised the suspect when he tried to hide along autoroute 55 near the Sherbrooke city limits. The SQ were then told of his location by the Sherbrooke police and arrested him.

Memphremagog (RPM) had its hands full over the weekend with drunk drivers. A 59 year-old woman was stopped on Merry North at around 1:00 am Saturday and refused to take the breathalyser test. Her license was suspended for 90 days and her car was seized for 30 days. A few hours later, a 26 year-old man was stopped on Brassard Street, same consequences. On March 30th, at 5:00 am on Principale West, a 30 year-old man was arrested for more than 80 mg. of alcohol in his blood and for assaulting his girlfriend in the Magog Hotel. The suspect broke down a door to attack his girlfriend who was then taken to the hospital. Accusations of cocaine and cannabis possession were also brought against the suspect.
