Shooting for a Cure

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEF -

The 12th annual “Come shoot for a cure” dart tournament was a rollicking success, raising over $2,300 for breast cancer research. Held last Saturday at the Stanstead Legion, 38 teams competed this time, a few more than usual. “We had a full house. We even had a special visit from Pierre Reid who donated some money towards Chris Tetreault’s haircut,” said Marilyn McComb, the organizer of the event. The first place winners were Chris Main and Mary-Claude Mercier. Although Ms. McComb stopped holding an auction during the event because it was too time-consuming to organize, people still brought in items for the auction so Gary Greenwood offered to auction off the seventeen items, raising $529. “We ended up raising $1,529 on the day of the tournament, and a total of $2,384.20 with all the cheques that came in, mostly from businesses in Lennoxville and Sherbrooke,” said Ms. McComb. “I’d like to thank everyone who helped,” she added.
