Bishop’s University Researcher Builds The Bridge Between Research And Community
Dr.Fuschia Sirois, a psychology professor and Canada Research Chair in Health and Well-being at Bishop’s University, has organized a series of interactive talks at the Memphremagog Community Learning Centre (CLC) in Magog. The course, ‘‘Pathways to Psychological Health and Well-being in Everyday Life”, features talks from members of Bishop’s Psychological Health and Wellbeing Research Cluster as part of a series offered at the CLC aimed at the English-speaking community. The course runs this Spring every Wednesday night starting March 26th, 2014 from 6:30 to 8 pm. A Fall 2014 course is being planned.
For Dr. Sirois, this course represents a great opportunity to present the research being conducted by her colleagues at Bishop’s University. She explains: “These interactive talks are given in an accessible and practical way. People go back home with knowledge and simple techniques to improve their daily health and well-being.’’
Dr. Sirois was approached by the CLC in 2012 to contribute to their series of course offerings. Her course has enjoyed great success, with the CLC reporting that the registration rates are among the highest of the courses offered at the Centre.
