Cinematic Roundtables this weekend - Festival Cinema du Monde de Sherbrooke
Tworoundtable debates will take place this weekend as part of the Festival Cinema du Monde de Sherbrooke (FCMS). The first film to be debated is an English language film: The World Before Her, directed by Nisha Pahuja. The film will be shown on Saturday, April 12th, at 4:00 pm, at La Maison du Cinema. The debate will take place after the film, at 6:00 pm, at the Centre de diffusion ArtFocus. Experts taking part in the debate will be Isabelle Bourgeois who is active with NGO’s in India; Serge Granger, professor of International Relations at the Université de Sherbrooke; Patrick Snyder, professor of Religious Studies at the Université de Sherbrooke; and Marie-Pierre Robert, of the Faculté de droit, Université de Sherbrooke.
The second film, the French language Une derniere chance by Paul Emile d’Entremont, will be shown on Sunday, April 13th, 1:00 pm, at La Maison du Cinema. The debate will take place at the restaurant Mechant Steak, at 3:00 pm. The movie’s theme of homifobia will be debated along with experts Simone Emmert of the Université de Sherbrooke; Denise Otis who works with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees; and Noel St. Pierre, a human rights lawyer.
