Cin­e­matic Round­tables this weekend - Fes­ti­val Cin­ema du Monde de Sher­brooke

Tworoundtable de­bates will take place this weekend as part of the Fes­ti­val Cin­ema du Monde de Sher­brooke (FCMS). The first film to be de­bated is an English lan­guage film: The World Be­fore Her, di­rected by Nisha Pahuja. The film will be shown on Satur­day, April 12th, at 4:00 pm, at La Mai­son du Cin­ema. The de­bate will take place af­ter the film, at 6:00 pm, at the Cen­tre de dif­fu­sion ArtFo­cus. Ex­perts tak­ing part in the de­bate will be Is­abelle Bour­geois who is ac­tive with NGO’s in In­dia; Serge Granger, pro­fes­sor of In­ter­na­tional Re­la­tions at the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke; Patrick Sny­der, pro­fes­sor of Re­li­gious Stud­ies at the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke; and Marie-Pierre Robert, of the Fac­ulté de droit, Univer­sité de Sher­brooke.

The sec­ond film, the French lan­guage Une derniere chance by Paul Emile d’En­tremont, will be shown on Sun­day, April 13th, 1:00 pm, at La Mai­son du Cin­ema. The de­bate will take place at the restau­rant Mechant Steak, at 3:00 pm. The movie’s theme of homi­fo­bia will be de­bated along with ex­perts Si­mone Em­mert of the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke; Denise Otis who works with the United Na­tions High Com­mis­sioner for Refugees; and Noel St. Pierre, a hu­man rights lawyer.
