JackiLumley from the Senior Girls Basketball Team and Keven Day Caron from the Bantam Boys Basketball Team have been named the Piper Athletes of the month for March.

Lumley is a graduating student that helped her team advance to the Championship game in the tough RSEQ AA league. The 16 year old averaged 8 points and 10 rebounds per game in March. As a threeyear veteran she played a big leadership role on the court with her tough defensive presence. Her experience was valuable as the girls almost upset the heavily favorite team from Sacre Coeur in the Championship game only to lose by 3 points. The Lennoxville Elementary grad also leads by example off the court as indicated by her 92% average. She was also chosen by her graduating peers to be this year’s Valedictorian. The Lennoxville resident plans on attending Champlain College next year and playing on the Cougar basketball team.

Day Caron is a grade 7 student that kept getting stronger as the season went on. Part of this can be attributed to being in the Sports Concentration Program in which the 12 year- old trains and practices three days a week on his skills. The Sherbrooke resident averaged 10 points per game in the strong RSEQ AA league. His tough defense, work ethic and commitment made him a force to reckon with when he was on the court. The two-sport athlete will join the Bantam Football team next year and help lead the basketball team to a play off berth next year. The Sherbrooke Elementary grad is the new wave of students from that school enrolling at Galt because of its wide variety of new programs.
