Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Victoria Vanier Stanstead

Therewere over 120 visitors at last week’s Job Fair, in Stanstead. “The Lennoxville Vocational Training Centre was there and they signed up eight people to try their student-for-aday activity. The companies there received interesting resumés and asked to be invited again next year,” commented Joanne Lajeunesse McKay, the town’s Development Agent. Representatives from Champlain College and JobLinks also attended.

Ms. Lajeunesse McKay also wanted to mention that women should consider jobs within the granite industry more often, and not just as secretaries or receptionists. “There are good jobs to offer in Stanstead, in buying and selling, interesting jobs. Those jobs can be done by women, even CNC

operators can be women. Granite Design is very open to hiring women for those kinds of jobs. If we want to keep the young people here, it’s important that the girls realize that there are good jobs for them, too, in the granite industry.”
