Schooling a priority for MRC
The Memphremagog MRC is proud to announce financing for three projects related to school perseverance. This announcement is the conclusion of a call for projects which was launched in the autumn of 2013.
Two projects received funding for a second year in a row to help them become established. They are “Pour semer la reussite”, coordinated by Villa Pierrot, and Stanstead’s own “Phelps Helps”. The Maison
de famille Memphremagog will also get funding. Villa Pierrot, an organization that offers a place to live and support for young single mothers living in poverty, will get $15,680 for its project. The Phelps Helps after school tutoring program for elementary and high school students will get $20,200 for the 2014-2015 year. $21,565 will go to the Maison
de famille Memphremagog to help parents get their young children ready for a successful entrance into school.
To be admissible for these funds, the projects must be aimed at people between the ages of 0 and 20, must contribute to the attainment of a first diploma, and must have the support of the community.
