School­ing a pri­or­ity for MRC

The Mem­phrem­a­gog MRC is proud to an­nounce fi­nanc­ing for three projects re­lated to school per­se­ver­ance. This an­nounce­ment is the con­clu­sion of a call for projects which was launched in the au­tumn of 2013.

Two projects re­ceived fund­ing for a sec­ond year in a row to help them be­come es­tab­lished. They are “Pour se­mer la reussite”, co­or­di­nated by Villa Pier­rot, and Stanstead’s own “Phelps Helps”. The Mai­son

de famille Mem­phrem­a­gog will also get fund­ing. Villa Pier­rot, an or­ga­ni­za­tion that of­fers a place to live and sup­port for young sin­gle moth­ers liv­ing in poverty, will get $15,680 for its project. The Phelps Helps af­ter school tu­tor­ing pro­gram for el­e­men­tary and high school stu­dents will get $20,200 for the 2014-2015 year. $21,565 will go to the Mai­son

de famille Mem­phrem­a­gog to help par­ents get their young chil­dren ready for a suc­cess­ful en­trance into school.

To be ad­mis­si­ble for these funds, the projects must be aimed at people be­tween the ages of 0 and 20, must con­trib­ute to the at­tain­ment of a first di­ploma, and must have the sup­port of the com­mu­nity.
