Rylan Schwarze, owner of Ry Guy Magic and fulltime student at Bishop’s University, has won the 2014 Student Entrepreneur Regional Championship for

Central Canada by Enactus Canada, the country’s largest student leadership development organization, and the John Dobson Foundation, program supporter, as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Rylan received the title of Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion after beating out three other student entrepreneurs from across Central Canada. He won the Provincial Championship in February 2014.

“I am thrilled and honored to receive both of these awards. I truly appreciate the support and encouragement I have received from my family and friends. Bishop’s University and the Dobson-Lagassé Centre have been behind me the whole way. They have helped me grow as an entrepreneur and elevate my business.’’

A panel of local entrepreneurs and business leaders voted Rylan regional champion for his progressive business savvy and enthusiasm for making his dream a vibrant enterprise.

Ry Guy Magic is a variety entertainment company that performs magic and circus stage shows throughout Ontario and Quebec. ‘‘Rylan represents what we strive to achieve with our students at Bishop’s and the Dobson-Lagassé Entrepreneurship Centre’’, says David Monty, Executive Director of the Centre. ‘‘He is living proof that anyone can take their passion, whatever it may be, and turn it into a viable and sustainable business.’’

“Rylan is very focused on making his business successful by expanding across Canada and around the world,” said Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “That entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and what we hope to inspire in other Canadian students.”

Rylan will compete against five other Student Entrepreneur Regional Champions from across Canada for the national title at the 2014 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Calgary, Alberta taking place April 28-30. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.
