Lo­cal men off to Cana­dian Cham­pi­onship

Se­bastienBoisvert, of Stanstead, will join team­mates Carl Mar­quis, of Stanstead Town­ship, Water­ville’s Benoit Les­sard and Boucherville’s Jo­hanne Daly, the only non-Town­ship­per on the team, to de­fend their ti­tle as the Wheel­chair Curl­ing Cana­dian Cham­pi­ons in the na­tional tour­na­ment which be­gan on Mon­day and runs un­til May 4th. This year, the cham­pi­onship is be­ing held at the Boucherville Curl­ing Club.

The de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, who first de­vel­oped as a team at the Len­noxville Curl­ing Club, are now as­so­ci­ated Stanstead’s Se­bastien Boisvert (left) an­chors the chair of team skip Benoit Les­sard, with Jo­hanne Daly on the right, as he gets ready to throw a rock dur­ing last year’s Cham­pi­onship fi­nal, held in Ot­tawa.

with the Ma­gog Curl­ing Club and are coached and man­aged by Ger­main Trem­blay, also of Ma­gog. The teams from across the coun­try will play a ‘Round Robin’ tour­na­ment of nine games each, fol­lowed by Page play­offs on Satur­day and the semi-fi­nals and the fi­nal on Sun­day.

At last

year’s Cham­pi­onship, Benoit Les­sard’s Que­bec team beat Gary Cor­mack’s team from Bri­tish Colom­bia with the score of 10 to 2 in the fi­nal.
