Quebec Curlers take second at Canadian Championship
Quebec’s wheelchair curling team took second place at the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship, held in Boucherville last week. Last year’s champions from Quebec were defeated by the Assiniboine Curling Club team from Manitoba with a score of 8-5. After five ends, Manitoba was ahead 7-2 but Quebec came back in the sixth end, climbing back to within two points. In the eighth end, Lessard’s first rock wrecked on a guard with two Manitoba rocks in the ring.
The Quebec team, which includes skip Benoit Lessard, of Waterville, Sebastien Boisvert, of Stanstead, Carl Marquis, of Stanstead Township, and Boucherville’s Johanne Daly finished 8-1 after the round robin and played Ontario in the Page 1-2 playoff, beating them and moving on to the final.
