Local student wins at the 13th Quebec Professional and Technical Olympiad
Martin Ferland, of Stanstead, took the silver medal at the
Quebec Professional and Technical Olympiad held over
the weekend in Quebec City. Stanstead’s Martin Ferland won the silver medal in the Industrial electronic category at the Quebec Professional and Technical Olympiad, held over the week-end in Quebec City. It honours the best of the students in 36 trades.
More than 12,000 visitors were able, last Thursday and Friday, to watch the work of the 304 candidates at the Quebec Fair Centre which looked like a giant multidisciplinary shop.
The next step is the Canadian final to be held in Toronto in early June and it is not known yet what form the Quebec delegation will take. Then it’s São Paulo, in Brazil, in 2015.
Compétences Québec, the organizer, is a founding member of Skills/Compétences Canada, affiliated with WorldSkills International, present in 65 countries. Apart from the Olympiads, it is in charge of Inforoute FPT, the portal of the professional and technical training and of the single entry website.
