Dr. Michele Mur­ray Ap­pointed As Dean Of Arts And Sci­ence At Bishop’s Univer­sity

Dr.Michele Mur­ray has been ap­pointed as Dean of Arts and Sci­ence of Bishop’s Univer­sity ef­fec­tive July 1, 2014. Dr. Mur­ray served as in­terim Dean of Arts and Sci­ence for the past year. She joined Bishop’s in 1999 and is cur­rently full pro­fes­sor in the Wil­liam and Nancy Turner Chair in Chris­tian­ity.

Dr. Miles Turn­bull, Vice-Prin­ci­pal Aca­demic, says: “Michele en­joys a strong rep­u­ta­tion among stu­dents for her com­mit­ment to them and to ex­cel­lent teach­ing. As part of the se­nior aca­demic team, she will bring ex­pe­ri­ence and in­ti­mate knowl­edge of and com­mit­ment to Bishop’s Univer­sity.’’

Dr. Mur­ray has a strong record of pub­li­ca­tion, in­clud­ing books, ref­er­eed schol­arly ar­ti­cles and book chap­ters, clearly es­tab­lish­ing her as an ex­pert in Jewish-Chris­tian re­la­tions. Dr. Mur­ray is win­ner of the 2014 Wil­liam and Nancy Turner teach­ing award, the top teach­ing honor at the Univer­sity.

Dr. Mur­ray holds a B.A. in His­tory from Trin­ity Western Univer­sity, an MA in Sec­ond Tem­ple pe­riod Jewish his­tory from the He­brew Univer­sity of Jerusalem and a PhD in re­li­gion from the Univer­sity of Toronto.

Dr. Michele Mur­ray is an ex­pert in Jewish-Chris­tian re­la­tions and win­ner of the 2014 Wil­liam and Nancy Turner teach­ing award, the top teach­ing honor at the Univer­sity.
