Ready, steady… open the cottage
So, you’ve just arrived at the cottage for the first time this year and you’re already dreaming about the long, lazy days of summer you’ll be spending there. You’ve switched on the water and the electricity and you’ll have finished the spring cleaning by this afternoon. Tomorrow you plan on examining the outside and evaluating any damage which has occurred over the winter. And even if there’s no damage to speak of, you’ll certainly take the time to think about what improvements can be made to make life even more enjoyable once the hot weather arrives. Even for a cottage, the quality of the doors and windows can make your second home safer and more agreeable to live in. Windows which let in the rain or an exterior door which doesn’t lock properly aren’t very reassuring. To make life at the cottage as enjoyable as possible, tools, buildings and other structures should always be well maintained. From the lawnmower to the wharf, not forgetting the deck, the barbecue, the shed and the ATV, nothing should be neglected. During your tour of inspection both inside and outside the cottage, check everything, including the walls and ceilings. Particular attention should be paid to the electrical systems: danger is never on holiday, even at the cottage! Once everything has been checked, the repair work finished, new items purchased and installed, make the most of your chalet by opening the door wide to the joys of summer.
