Re­lax­ing Art at Galt Li­brary

To wind down Healthy Selfie Month at Alexan­der Galt High School, art­work from the art stu­dents of Ms. Carisse and Ms. Gandey’s art classes were put on dis­play in the Galt Li­brary. The lo­ca­tion where many of the month’s ac­tiv­i­ties took place, the art was placed there be­cause, ac­cord­ing to the li­brary’s BlogSpot, “we don’t sur­round our­selves with enough beauty and that all art forms are there to help us re­lax… and breathe… and en­joy… and take a step away from the fast lane of life.” The art­works in­cluded clay sculp­tures, small and whim­si­cal vil­lages, and masks. Through­out the month, stu­dents were of­fered free ap­ples, smooth­ies, herbal teas, flavoured wa­ters and lots of in­for­ma­tion about stress re­lief, so im­por­tant with fi­nal ex­ams com­ing up. They also at­tended work­shops on re­lax­ation tech­niques, yoga and pi­lates.

Col­or­ful masks made by stu­dents in Ms. Gandey’s art class are on dis­play in the Alexan­der Galt Li­brary this week.
