Relaxing Art at Galt Library
To wind down Healthy Selfie Month at Alexander Galt High School, artwork from the art students of Ms. Carisse and Ms. Gandey’s art classes were put on display in the Galt Library. The location where many of the month’s activities took place, the art was placed there because, according to the library’s BlogSpot, “we don’t surround ourselves with enough beauty and that all art forms are there to help us relax… and breathe… and enjoy… and take a step away from the fast lane of life.” The artworks included clay sculptures, small and whimsical villages, and masks. Throughout the month, students were offered free apples, smoothies, herbal teas, flavoured waters and lots of information about stress relief, so important with final exams coming up. They also attended workshops on relaxation techniques, yoga and pilates.
Colorful masks made by students in Ms. Gandey’s art class are on display in the Alexander Galt Library this week.
