Stanstead Journal - - NEWS -

Was it the cheese fondue that led to the success of both Diane Roy and Alexandre Dupont, last Wednesday, when they qualified for the Commonwealth Games during an event in Nottwill, Switzerland? The hilly courses helped the wheelchair racers to attain the times needed by the federations for the summer competitions. This time, the times of 3 min 36 s for Ms. Roy and 3 min 06 sec for Dupont were required in order to qualify for the 1500 metre event in Glascow. Roy finished third.

Later, in the 400 metre event, Ms. Roy finished second with a time of 57 seconds. Switzerland’s Manuela Schar was first with a time of 55.82 seconds. In the 5000 m, Ms. Roy came fifth with a time of 12 min 16.17 sec.
